Departmental Profile :

The department of Zoology was one of the very first departments with which Science College Kokrajhar began its journey in the year 1995. Initially only Pass-Course was provided but later in the year 2005 major was introduced with 15 students.. Since then, it has been an untiring effort of the department to impart quality education and produce students who are compatible and competent enough to rear themselves a niche in the society. Presently the department is functional with 25 students.

Departmental Results/Achievements:

Every year department of Zoology shows excellent result in the final examination. In the year 2008-2009 Jaydev Mandal and Lipika Sen, in the same year occupied 2nd and 13th position respectively in the Final Examination under Gauhati University. Besides, the department produced an odd number of 5 other students securing 1st divisions down the years.

Jaydev Mandal qualified NET-LS in 2012 adding yet another feather in the hat of the Department of Zoology.

Departmental ongoing projects:

A UGC Sponsored Major Research Project is underway with the title “Butterfly Diversity with special reference to their population status in Manas Biosphere Reserve, Assam”, under the principal investigation of Mr. Kushal Choudhury.
